E-commerce
and Web Developer
E-commerce
is the technology which enables you to conduct business on-line via
a website. For example, buying and selling products with digital cash,
via Electronic Data Interchange. Our E-commerce and Web Developer
course provides you with the knowledge to be able to build database-driven
E-commerce enabled web sites.
This course
focuses on the basics of web design and developing technical skills,
including programming. To do this you will go through a syllabus of
seven modules.
Syllabus
HTML:
HTML is a simple scripting language used to create web pages, and
is the first thing you should learn prior to doing any other internet
related course. In this module you will learn to use HTML to format
and arrange text, insert graphics and create links. For more information
visit HTML
Macromedia Dreamweaver: Dreamweaver lets you build
sites and applications by using either hand coding, visual design,
or a combination of the two. It provides a powerful combination of
visual layout tools, application development features, and code editing
support. For more information visit Macromedia
Dreamweaver.
Programming Principles: This is a first step into
Computer Programming. All work on this course is done using a simple
programming language called 'Q-Basic', providing a good introduction
to the practice of entering programming instructions, and testing
the results. For more information visit Programming
Principles.
JavaScript: JavaScript is a widely adopted, powerful
programming language. It is designed to be used in Internet browsers,
on Internet Servers, and stand-alone configurations. For more information
visit JavaScript.
Microsoft Access (Intermediate-Advanced): Microsoft
Access is a powerful and flexible database management program, that
allows organisations to organise, store and retrieve information.
Our Access course provides you with the knowledge to create new databases,
change the design of Forms, add tables, relationships and create a
switchboard. For more information visit Microsoft
Access
SQL: A query language for requesting information
from Relational Databases (RDBMS) such as Microsoft Access, Oracle,
Sybase, IBM-DB2 and Microsoft SQL Server. During the sessions you
will connect to an Oracle Server with an SQL Net client using the
Windows interface. For more information on the syllabus visit SQL
VBScript: VBScript is a server-side scripting language,
which is interpreted by many web servers, such as Microsoft IIS or
Susie Apache. Scripts written with VBScript will also embed your SQL
and ASP or ASP.NET scripts and commands, which are necessary for you
to connect your web pages to databases created with Access or SQL
Server or any ODBC compliant RDBMS. For more information visit VBscript
You can then choose to do either ASP or ASP.NET.
ASP: ASP stands for 'Active Server Page' and is Microsoft's
solution to server-side scripting. Through this module you will learn
how to use ASP to create database driven web pages which are dynamic,
efficiant and responsive to users. For more information visit ASP
ASP.NET: ASP.NET is the newest version of ASP, using
the latest Microsoft server-side tecnology. It is a dynamic tool that
you can use to write web pages that are dynamic rather than static,
and that can also retrive information from relational databases. ASP.NET
is a superb tool for Web development. For more information visit ASP.NET
Once you have completed all modules, you will be able to create your
own E-commerce enabled website. This website will demonstrate your
abilities to create database driven E-commerce websites. We will give
you constant support while you create the site and launch it onto
the internet. Your portfolio E-commerce site, which will have its
own URL, is the perfect way to prove yourself to potential employers
and clients.
