Office Skills
'OCR CLAIT' is an excellent course for anyone who wants to use a variety
of computer applications effectively, and provides a broad basis for
those intending to go on to specialised or advanced studies. Our Office
Skills course comes in two levels:
Beginners to Intermediate and Intermediate
to Advanced
Both of which lead to 'OCR CLAIT' Certification.
We also offer Microsoft Office Specialist
course, ideal for anyone who already has some experence in using a
PC. This course will take you from beginners to advanced in office
skills, and leads to 'MOS Expert' Certification.
Our full time
Office Skills course will teach you how to present ideas, analyse
data, and manage finances using Office Applications. Our emphasis
is on teaching you practical skills. After completing the Office Skills
course, you will be able to sit the 'OCR CLAIT' exam. Passing will
gain you a certificate in Computer Literacy, and Information Technology.
Syllabus
Touch Typing: You will be using the program 'Mavis
Beacon teaches typing'. This program will teach you how to type without
looking at the keyboard, at a speed of at least 25 words per minute.
Microsoft Windows: Windows is the operating system
used to run most Personal Computers. You will learn Windows basics,
how to manage files, folders & shortcuts, how to open Windows Internet
Explorer, and much more.
Microsoft Word: Word is a computer application that
produces documents, such as essays and letters. You will also learn
how to customize tables and Charts, modify pictures, automate common
tasks.
Microsoft Excel: Excel is a spreadsheet application
used to process, analyse and graphically display figures and numeric
data. You will learn how to set up a worksheet, save spreadsheets,
build mathematical formula in cells, and much more.
Microsoft Access: Access creates databases which
record, organise, and sort large amounts of information. Your training
covers Access fundamentals from creating your first database, entering
information, to working with data tables, and writing queries. After
completing the Intermediate level, and taking a test, you can then
start mock exams to 'OCR' Stage 1 'CLAIT' exam.

The Intermediate to Advanced office skills course is for people who
wish to master the computer applications used in businesses & offices.
At the end of this course you will be able to sit the 'OCR' Integrated
Business Technology Level II examination. This examination consists
of five assignments: Database, Spreadsheet, Word-processing, Graphs
and Integrate Files and 'Present a Document' Assignment.
Syllabus
Microsoft
Word: Intermediate to Advanced Microsoft Word will take you
through automating your work, copying, moving, formatting text, find
and replace, using styles, templates, wizards, tabs, tables and mail
merge. You will also be creating newspaper columns, and using simple
desktop publishing techniques.
Microsoft Excel: You will learn how to display information
in spreadsheets. This will involve workbooks, absolute references,
filling cells and number series, custom lists, auto complete, cell
names and cell notes, page set-ups, working with large worksheets,
creating and formatting charts, inserting pictures and text boxes.
Microsoft Access: You will be studying the Intermediate
to Advanced levels of Access to create databases. This will involve
database wizards, creating and designing tables, entering and importing
data, forms, producing labels, creating switchboards, using sub forms
& queries, designing report, events, macros, and mail merge.
Microsoft PowerPoint: This application helps users
to create professional presentations and reports, through easy to
use features, and a simple interface. You will learn how to set up
slides, save and format your presentation to a design specification,
and create simple transition effects for your slideshow.

to master organising, storing and retrieving information in a database.
Your training covers Access fundamentals from creating your first
database, entering information, to working with data tables and writing
queries. You will continue exploring innovative tools with further
training.
Microsoft PowerPoint: Creates professional presentations
and reports through easy to use features and a simple interface. You
will learn how to set up slides, save and format your presentation
to a design specification, and create transition effects.
